CHS Levine Cancer Institute (LCI) Expansion - Groundbreaking Ceremony

Bloc Design was honored to be invited to the groundbreaking ceremony for the CHS Levine Cancer Institute expansion. The Leon Levine Foundation has donated $25 million towards the project. Bloc Design is providing civil engineering and landscape architecture.

FHG Construction Underway

Construction is underway on FHG, a pipe manufacturing entity which needed a new office headquarters. The 13,000 sf office is located in an out-parcel in Mint Hill, NC. Bloc Design provided civil engineering and landscape architecture services, as well as permitting for the project.
AvidXchange Headquarters and Parking Deck

Underground detention, 1,700 LF +/- and 6.5 feet in diameter, is almost complete on Phase 1 for the AvidXchange Headquarter's building and parking deck located at the AvidXchange Music Factory. Bloc Design is providing civil engineering and landscape architecture services for the project.
Drew Farnie

Bloc Design welcomed Drew Farnie to the team on June 1st. Drew is a Civil Designer II with 20 years of experience working in the AEC industry in both the public and private sectors, including commercial, residential, education and civic. Most recently, Drew owned and operated his own consulting business here in the Charlotte area offering project management, CAD drafting/design, project maintenance and general construction to area firms. Drew also worked for over 6 years with the United States Air Force at Fort Leonard, MO, as well as oversees on construction and pavement equipment, including explosive demolition and Quarry operations. In February, Drew became certified as a BMP Inspector.
Drew is a licensed pilot who enjoys flying in his spare time. He also has a love for motorcycles and the outdoors, and spends as much time as possible riding and playing sports.

Bloc Design Sponsors Hats Off to Parks Event

A great time was had by all at the 6th Annual Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation event "Hats Off to Parks" at Romare Bearden Park Friday night. Bloc Design sponsored a table for the event which raised funds for The Druid Hills Neighborhood Park additions which will enhance the park’s contribution to the health and fitness of the Druid Hills community.
Bloc Design Sponsors Public Private Partnerships (P3S) SMPS Program

Our very own, Jason Dolan, Senior Project Manager here at Bloc Design, participated in the March SMPS P3S program as moderator. Jason and panelists, Daniel Levine, Peter Franz, Ron Kimble and Jerry Coughter, shared their experiences of successes and challenges in the development and construction of two high-profile P3 projects in Charlotte, The Metropolitan and First Ward Park. They also discussed how P3 projects are helping to shape UNC Charlotte at both the Main Campus and Center City.
