Emery Village Apartments

June 20, 2019

Bloc Design provided master planning and civil engineering services for the proposed 132 unit multi-family development. The 8 acre parcel located in Concord, NC also includes a 3,500 sq ft clubhouse and pool building. The site required large scale storm water management, coordination with Duke Energy, in addition to extension and improvements to Emery Avenue.

Meck County Government Green Roof Plaza

June 05, 2019

The renovations are now complete at the green roof plaza located in front of the Mecklenburg District Attorney Building along 4th Street. The project consisted of a renovation to an existing green roof plaza which previously was a large uninviting space consisting of turf grass and concrete.

Teamed with Terracon, Bloc Design successfully designed a plaza space that accommodates new seating areas, ornamental trees in raised planters, plaza pavers, and a colorful mix of sedums, grasses, shrubs, and perennials, in addition to a comprehensive lighting package.

Panther's Practice Facility is Under Construction

Bloc Design was selected as the civil engineer and landscape architect of record for the proposed indoor practice facility for the Carolina Panthers.  Our firm provided  the construction documents for the project.

Luke Hanna Joins Bloc Design

Luke Hanna is a recent graduate of Mississippi State University's Landscape Architecture program.  Luke gained great experience in multiple interships, and won multiple student design awards from the MS ASLA chapter.  His keen eye for strong creative design, planning, and technical skills, combined with his passion for place-making and impact in the field of landscape architecture makes him a perfect fit for our team.

Levine Cancer Institute Expansion Now Seeing Patients

May 06, 2019

Construction is finally complete for the new $125M 7-story 260,000 sf Levine Cancer Institute facility expansion. Located adjacent to the Atrium Main Campus in Charlotte, the project is situated at the corner of Kenilworth Avenue and East Morehead Street. The new building will provide more space for oncology practices, outpatient infusion therapies and specialty pharmacy services. In addition, the new facility will have two decorative vegetated green roof areas adjacent to the patient treatment areas for viewing during treatment.  Bloc Design provided civil engineering and landscape architecture services for the project.

Tuckaseegee Dream Fields Under Construction

April 22, 2019

The Tuckaseegee Dream Fields and Education Center recently broke ground to begin construction of three new fields at the site, formerly named Optimist Park in West Charlotte.  The new facility will provide an environment to reach young kids in the community for various programs, coaching camps, and events.  The fields will also be used for Queens College home baseball and softball games. 

Piedmont Community Charter High School Campus

April 15, 2019

Located in Gastonia, North Carolina, the new facility will serve as the high school campus branch.  PCCS focuses on college preparation, academics, character, and community.  The new high school will hold 600 students. Our firm provided master planning using SITEOPS, schematic design, design development, construction drawings, and construction administration.  Construction is estimated to be completed in 2020. 

The Courtyards at Poplar Tent Under Construction

April 10, 2019

Located in Concord, North Carolina, this new age-targeted community is currently under construction and will feature 87 single family homes. Bloc Design provided master planning, rezoning, civil engineering, and landscape architecture services for the project. 

Austin Village Senior Living Community

April 08, 2019

Bloc Design provided master planning and civil engineering services for the proposed 98,000 sf senior living facility and 7 independent living duplex cottages on a 9 acre site located in Stallings, NC.  Site consisted of challenging topography and stormwater management, as well as required road improvements.

Bloc Welcomes Nic Vesely to the Team

Nic Vesley joined our team as a professional civil engineer. Nic brings over four years of experience in his field, and has worked on numerous and diverse projects with a specialty in large, multi-parcel developments, often with public roadway corridor components for multi-discipline firms in Charlotte, NC. From project concept through final closeout, his thoughtful approach to engineering and dedication all play a vital role to insuring the delivery of a successful project outcome.
